Hey everyone. I am from Chilliwack and I just recently turned 16. Yeah, I am very young. I made this big list of the bands and singers I like...should I post it? Oh why not :)

Ah, yes, good ol' CBC. Commercial radio really does suck ass, but CBC really does a good job with those shows that are just for that purpose. It's a shame we don't have a station like Coast 800/1040 anymore. It was so nice to have a radio station that you could turn on any time and just listen to for more than 10 minutes without wanting to one-up Van Gogh and cut both ears off.

Once upon a time I used to swap cassettes in the mail with my penpals. Downloading MP3's doesn't really have the same appeal.  For a while there I really enjoyed the way you could pick a genre on MP3.com and run the top downloads as a random stream. That was a good way to find some interesting stuff, but they are no longer what they once were and even then it didn't have quite the same personal appeal as swapping cassettes in the mail with someone you'd gotten to know through letters.

Here's a good question for everyone: how do you discover new bands?  Through friends?  Listing to streaming audio?  Music videos?  Compilation CD's?  Night clubs?  Telepathy?  (it sure as hell ain't the radio)  I just can't keep on top of this stuff.

actually i have found out about some really cool bands from the radio , like cbc radio 3, and brave new waves on cbc radio 2

i do a lot of snooping and tend to find wonderful stuff through that ...

I discover new bands from the net, kazZaa and such. im new here as well, just getting the hang of the "forum" bit. i wanna meet some people:) im moving to vancouver in febuary :)

I wasn't implying that self-loathing should be the result of not having any replies, I was just expressing my surprise to the lack of activity here.

As for music, I listen to internet radio, and when a song comes on that is really impressive, I take note of the artist.  I also have friends into the same music, and they introduce me to a lot of new bands/labels.  I also go clubbing, and when they play a song that kicks arse, I go find out who it is.  Kind of odd though, I never consciously make any effort to find new stuff, I'm always getting into new music... it finds me more than I find it.

(There's lots of threads I've made which no one has replied to.   By that "hurting" logic I should be in emotional torment... LOL!)

Hi, QueenofLegatha - holy crap there are some bands in that list I had no idea existed!  It seems I have got to get out more!! *puts on boring old fart hat*

Hold on, you posted nearly a week ago, and no one  replied.  How hurting is that?  You listed many bands I'm very into.  I'm just new to the computer thing, and am somewhat surprised that you didn't get many people saying 'hi' or whatever.

So I extend my 'hello' to you, and am also an avid collector of good music.
